Information in English language
Medical Physicists play a fundamental role of legally guaranteeing the dose of radiation prescribed to patients by Radiotherapy or Nuclear Medicine Consultants. They are also responsible for assessing the risks connected with the exposure of patients to ionising radiation. Within the hospital the Medical Physics Unit provides specialist health services as well as design, control and management activities connected with the application of physics to medicine, especially as regards the use of ionising and non-ionising radiation. It provides a treatment and diagnosis service in close collaboration with Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Radiodiagnostics.
