Information in English language
Stereotactic radioterapy is a technique which, in a single session, precisely directs a beam of ionising radiation almost exclusively on pathological tissue, thus saving as much healthy tissue as possible. A dedicated clinic selects both in- and out-patients suffering from intracranial pathologies that can benefit from the treatment, and schedules the subsequent admission to hospital. Two beds in the Neurosurgery Unit are available for this purpose. Treatment is planned and administered in collaboration with the Medical Physics Unit and the Radiotherapy Unit; the clinic also provides a post-treatment follow-up service.
